Rolling, Rolling, Rolling

God is moving and shaking my world! So much has happened in the past few weeks.

In my first conversation with Glenn Kendall, Africa Director of World Venture, I told him of my desire to work in Zambia with Flying Mission and briefly mentioned seconding. At that point he hadn’t even heard of Flying Mission. In less than two weeks, he called me a second time. Within that time, some of his South Africa members had attended a conference involving a number of southern African ministries (including FM). In the second conversation, Mr. Kendall said that he was quite impressed with FM and that they would be willing to second me to FM. I’m not even officially a member of World Venture yet! God obviously has this so under control and His timetable is obviously much better than mine!

My completed application has been turned in to World Venture and will be reviewed by a committee on May 11. Shortly after that, I will be officially invited to a formal interview, appointment and training in Colorado to take place in the second half of June.

In the mean time, Bryan from Flying Mission is in Tucson for several weeks. He is the director of flight operations for FM Zambia. I will be working directly with him in Lusaka. We’ve been able to discuss a little more what my job will entail and my estimated time frame. Bryan is strongly encouraging me to visit for two weeks in late October. So for now, the plan is to attend a Flying Mission retreat in Johannesburg which will include both Botswana and Zambia personnel. Then I plan to travel to Zambia for a week to get an idea of where I will be serving and living. Hopefully, I’ll also be able to meet with some of the World Venture folks I’ll be working with.

Bryan will be doing a presentation at my house on Tuesday, May 23 at 6:00 PM. If you would like to join us, I’d be delighted to have you here. We’ll have dinner then a power point presentation. Please let me know if you can join us.

I am thrilled to see what God is doing in preparing me for this adventure. Things are rolling along so much more smoothly than I could have hoped for. And I’m excited to see what happens next!
